SUMMARY:First Fling (Open) Regatta
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 LESC First Fling (Open) Regatta will take place on Saturday\, May 02\, 2026\, for all entrants with a 1200 start time and on Sunday\, May 03\, 2026\, with an 1100 start time. \n\nThe First and Final Fling Regattas are larger\, open racing events with earlier starts and keelboat and dinghy fleets racing on both days and separate starts over the course of a weekend. Like other LESC racing events\, these regattas are also run by volunteer officers using the club’s permanent marks depending on conditions. \n\nRegistration is required of all competitors and details about the pre-race briefing can be found in the event’s Notice of Race (NOR) and Sailing Instructions (SIs). When possible\, volunteers will run a small kitchen with small selections breakfast options and/or soup\, baking\, and hot and cold beverages available for purchase. \n\nPrizes to be awarded at the end of racing on Sunday. \n\nThe volunteer race officers are set annually by the Sailing Secretary so that all members contribute. DESCRIPTION:The 2026 RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling Course at LESC will be held from Friday evening on 15 May until Sunday evening 17 May. \n\n\n\nCourse Description   Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling\, man overboard recovery\, an introduction to driving at planing speed\, and collision regulations. The course can be taken at an inland or coastal location. It may be conducted in a variety of boat types\, both planing and displacement. SUMMARY:Brown Cup Regatta
DESCRIPTION:The Brown Cup Regatta aka Scottish School Sailing Championship is a one-day event for pupils attending a Scottish primary or secondary school to learn and compete. Entry is free to encourage as many participants as possible. Club boats are available for non members to borrow for a suggested donation to the club boat maintenance fund. DESCRIPTION:Weekend Series events are member only racing events with separate starts for keelboats and dinghies run by volunteer race officers (Officer of the Day/OOD\, rescue boat driver\, and rescue boat assist) who aim to complete two races a day for a total of six per series with one discard for every four races sailed. Starts are usually 1400 on Saturdays\, and 1300 on Sundays to accommodate an early finish on Sundays and courses will be set by the OOD using the club’s permanent marks depending on the conditions. See Race Hut on race day for specifics on fleet starts\, starting procedure\, etc. Courses are displayed on the course board outside the hut prior to the preparatory signal. \nOverall prizes given at the end of the season\, although the new names are to encourage members to socialise after racing and discuss who has [Loch] Earn’d an adult beverage with the day’s shenanigans. \nThe volunteer race officers are set annually by the Sailing Secretary so that all members contribute. SUMMARY:Shoreline Challenge
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 LESC Shoreline Challenge will take place on Friday\, June 26\, 2026\, for the keelboat fleet only with a 1400 start time. \nThe keelboat fleet have a varied calendar for members’ only racing and cruising alike that take them further afield than regular events including down to Lochearnhead\, round every mark\, and on a sunset cruise. The Lochearnhead Regatta is a particular highlight because the fleet demonstrate their anchoring skills (or lack thereof) and go ashore for lunch.
