SUMMARY:First Fling (Open) Regatta
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 LESC First Fling (Open) Regatta will take place on Saturday\, May 02\, 2026\, for all entrants with a 1200 start time and on Sunday\, May 03\, 2026\, with an 1100 start time. \n\nThe First and Final Fling Regattas are larger\, open racing events with earlier starts and keelboat and dinghy fleets racing on both days and separate starts over the course of a weekend. Like other LESC racing events\, these regattas are also run by volunteer officers using the club’s permanent marks depending on conditions. \n\nRegistration is required of all competitors and details about the pre-race briefing can be found in the event’s Notice of Race (NOR) and Sailing Instructions (SIs). When possible\, volunteers will run a small kitchen with small selections breakfast options and/or soup\, baking\, and hot and cold beverages available for purchase. \n\nPrizes to be awarded at the end of racing on Sunday. \n\nThe volunteer race officers are set annually by the Sailing Secretary so that all members contribute. SUMMARY:RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling Course
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 RYA Level 2 Powerboat Handling Course at LESC will be held from Friday evening on 15 May until Sunday evening 17 May. \n\n\n\nCourse Description   Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling\, man overboard recovery\, an introduction to driving at planing speed\, and collision regulations. The course can be taken at an inland or coastal location. It may be conducted in a variety of boat types\, both planing and displacement.
